About Us

Mission

We empower families and foster resilient foundations for children’s growth and well-being through nature-based therapeutic practices. We strengthen and nurture skills that help children thrive at every stage of development.

The Everbloom Approach

Everbloom Outdoor Therapy uses a play-based approach to help children develop their physical, emotional, social and cognitive abilities so they are better equipped to participate in their day-to-day activities. For children, this often means considering how they are managing at home with their self-care tasks at school and during play.

Our Three Pillars

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to nurturing children’s development by fostering their connection to nature. Inspired by the ethos of Child and Nature Alliance of Canada (CNAC), we embrace practices that honor both the land and the joy of child-led play. Our values guide us to provide inclusive, outdoor experiences for children of all abilities.

Family-Centered Care
We believe that families are integral to a child’s growth. By creating strong partnerships with caregivers, we ensure a supportive, inclusive environment where every family feels heard, respected, and involved in their child’s journey.

Unrestricted Movement
The freedom to move is fundamental to a child’s physical, cognitive, and emotional development. We prioritize environments that are free from unnecessary restrictions and encourage exploration, risk-taking, and self-discovery.

Child-Led Play
Play is the language of childhood. We champion a child’s natural curiosity and creativity by allowing their interests to guide activities which foster independence, problem-solving, and a lifelong love of learning.

Why Bring Therapy Outdoors?

The short answer: Children need more opportunities to move and meet their bodies’ needs for growth and development! Everbloom seeks to allow children outdoor play opportunities to support sensory integration, neurological development, as well as mental and physical health and well-being.

The long answer: More and more children are presenting with sensory and/or behavioral challenges at home and in school due to restricted movement opportunities. Rises in screen time, sedentary lifestyles, decreases in recess time, urbanization, and adult risk-aversions mean children are missing out on critical outdoor experiences.

Research suggests that children of all ages should get at least three hours of free play outdoors a day, yet the current statistics say that the average child only gets 4-7 minutes of outdoor free play every day. This means that the average child is outside for 30 minutes a few times a week (Hanscom, A.J., 2016; Yurich, G., 2011). This increase in time children spend sitting and consuming media through screens compared to time moving their bodies is greatly impacting the developing child.

Nature has a positive effect on children’s mental and physical health; when we are outdoors, we tune into our senses, our body signals, and have a greater capacity for movement and connection. Given nature’s inherently therapeutic qualities, working with children outside is the perfect place for problem prevention and treatment.
